'Parasite' Beat Son Ye Jin's Film Record at Box Office in Japan

'Parasite' Beat Son Ye Jin's Film Record at Box Office in Japan - The success of the film 'Parasite' still continues after the Oscar 2020 event. Now the film directed by Bong Joon Ho is breaking records at the Japanese box office.

'Parasite' is now the number one Korean film in the land of Sakura. There aren't many Korean films that can successfully top the box office in Japan! The record was previously held by 'A Moment to Remember', a film starring Son Ye Jin who recently starred in the Korean drama 'Crash Landing On You'.

'A Moment to Remember' record was set in 2005. Now 15 years later, only 'Parasite' has successfully shifted the position of the melodrama film, which also stars Jung Woo Sung.

In Japan, 'Parasite' has been aired in a total of 276 theaters throughout the country. During the screening on February 15 and 16 alone, this film has pocketed 370 million Yen or around Rp. 46.1 billion.

Accumulated, the revenue of 'Parasite' from airing in Japan alone has reached 2.5 billion Yen. However, this amount still does not beat the income of two Son Ye Jin films that are very popular in Japan.

In 2005, 'A Moment to Remember' earned a total of 3 billion Yen. While 'April Snow' played by Son Ye Jin with Bae Yong Jun managed to pocket 2.8 billion yen from the sale of cinema tickets. /detik.com
