Contrary to what he previously said, towards the end of Taeyong's live broadcast, Doyoung called him and asked the NCT 127 leader to show his ring to fans.
In the behind-the-scenes clip during NCT 127's "Punch" promotions, Doyoung was touched by the fact that Taeyong wanted to get a couple ring that was specially customized. But the 1996-born singer didn't want to have a couple ring with Taeyong.
At the time, Doyoung joked that was the reason he didn't tell Taeyong his ring size. Even though he was joking at the time, it turned out that Doyoung was happy when he reminded Taeyong to show off his ring during his latest live broadcast.
Towards the end of Taeyong's live broadcast, Doyoung called him. The owner's real name Kim Dongyoung said, "Did you tell fans that we bought a matching ring? Tell them that I bought a ring for you."
After a short conversation before ending their call, Taeyong did what Doyoung wanted. The NCT 127 leader left the room and returned with the ring in question.
Before showing it, Taeyong shared the reasons why he wanted the ring for them. "We've known each other for a long time, and we will remain friends for a long time. I thought it would be nice to have something to maintain our friendship," he said.
Doyoung fulfilled Taeyong's wish and spent his own money to cover all expenses for both of them. "Then, Doyoung is really cool. He gave his own credit card to buy the ring ... I was really surprised."
When Taeyong showed the ring in the box, it wasn't just any ring. Doyoung was unmitigated by buying Cartier rings each worth more than 3,000 USD or around Rp.44.1 million (multiplied by two for two rings).
Because the ring symbolizes their friendship as well as their relationship with NCTzens, Taeyong feels too precious to be worn every day. He thanked Doyoung who was not only generous but also thoughtful.
"I think Doyoung wants to take care of me. I think he wants to do something to encourage me. To give strength. So he bought the ring for me without hesitation. Thank you, Doyoung," said Taeyong.
After Taeyong shared how meaningful the friendship ring is, fans noticed that Doyoung had worn it during NCT's “WISH 2020” live broadcast. Fans also noticed that Taeyong wore it for SuperM's photo shoot with Elle Korea magazine.
