Every year, Dispatch reveals several celebrity couples to the public. Many fans suspected that the agency had been warned in advance before the dating news was published. So is it true?
Recently, Dragon J and YouTuber In Ji Woong discussed the dating news of Dispatch in a new video released by AYO. Dragon J is the author of "How to Being a K-Pop Star" who went from being a K-Pop trainee manager to being the head of business development at a Korean entertainment company. In Ji Woong is also a former idol trainer and currently directs K-Pop choreography.
In the video, Dragon J and In Ji Woong respond to a netizen who wants to know the truth about Dispatch's disclosure. "Dispatch dating news. Did they tell idols and agencies beforehand? Or suddenly?"
While many speculated that the agency was warned in advance, perhaps so that they could pay Dispatch for silence, Dragon J revealed that was not the case. "It's not Dispatch if they tell us first," he explained. "We'll stop it if we find out," In Ji Woong confirmed.
Dragon J went on to say that apart from Dispatch, agencies often didn't know about idols' private dating lives at all until they were exposed because they were doing their best to hide relationships.
If anything, Dragon J said idol trainers would probably find out the truth before the company did. He described the coach and those who work closely with idols as "brother or sister" compared to the agency's boss, who is more like "vice principal."
Just like the vice principal of the school, the manager of the agency will definitely reprimand idols who ignore the rules of prohibiting dating. In Ji Woong recalled a time when a trainee he worked for was caught on a date and found themselves being scolded from 11 p.m. to 3 a.m. by their agency manager.
In the end, on the topic of idol dating, Dragon J said the agency only tries to guide idols by imposing a dating ban. "They become idols after dedicating their adolescence and should not be buried because of dating," he explained. (wk / chus)
