Based on data from Nielsen Korea, the first episode of The Penthouse 3 received ratings of 16.9 percent, 19.5 percent, and 19.1 percent for its respective parts. This makes The Penthouse 3 break the record as the drama with the highest rating in its premiere.
Not only that, this drama also became a Korean drama with the highest audience on the day it aired. The Penthouse 3 managed to beat the ratings of two other dramas currently airing, namely Imitation and Undercover.
The Penthouse is a Korean drama that elevates ambition and greed related to possessions and children's education. The third season begins with the story of Lee Gyu Jin being imprisoned.
"There are many intense stories in prison. Viewers can see stories of pure affection, love, and world peace," said Bong Tae Gyu, who plays Lee Gyu Jin at a press conference.
Kim So Yeon, who plays Cheon Seo Jin, admitted that she was surprised when she read the script for the third season. He hopes that the audience will also look forward to the action of his character which will be more extreme in the third season.
"When I read the script for the third season, I immediately said, 'Seo Jin, you can't be like this.' I was very surprised by what I read," said Kim So Yeon.
