Space Sweepers Film Review: When the Space Junk Cleaner is the Savior of the Earth

After experiencing delays, the film Space Sweepers finally officially airs on Netflix on February 5, 2021. This film is set in the background of life in 2092, where the earth is approaching apocalypse and humans build a new place to live in space.


Song Joong Ki as Tae Oh, a former UTS soldier who piloted a space cleaning ship led by Captain Jang, played by Kim Tae Ri. On the ship is Tiger Park (Jin Seon Kyu), a former drug dealer who becomes a technician. And Bubs (Yoo Hae Jin) is a smart robot.


They take control of the Seungri or Victory ship which is feared by other space junk cleaners. These space junk cleaners collect used ships that are no longer active.


One day, the Victory team finds a little boy named Kot-nim on the ship they caught, which is considered a major threat to the earth rescue operation. Initially intended to sell Kot-nim, but there is a big plot twist that the Victory team and other space trash cleaners do.


As South Korea's first sci-fi film, Space Sweepers comes with sophisticated and smooth computer graphics or CGI effects. You will feel how life in space, including the artificial earth created by UTS.

In addition, the film Space Sweepers is also spiced with a family drama, in which Song Joong Ki becomes a father. And of course Kim Tae Ri's cool appearance as the powerful Captain Jang. As well as Tiger Park who is scary on the outside but his heart is soft.
