Success in the K-Pop industry is not easy. Not only that, idols have to face a lot of pressure. Because of this, parents do not always support their children in entering the entertainment industry. IU is a singer who experienced this.

In a recent interview with W Korea, IU shared that her mother was initially against her dream of becoming a singer. However, everything changed when the 1993-born singer sang the song "Gates of Dawn" by Wax for him.

After hearing IU sing this song, IU's mother supported her dream of becoming a singer. "My mother used to oppose me being a musician. But when I sang this song for her, she liked and supported me singing," said IU.

IU also shared that her mother usually hates going to karaoke with her, but if she tells her mother that she will sing "Gates of Dawn, her mother will come along. Because of that experience, IU sees this as a special song.

"Every time I ask my mom to go to karaoke with me, she doesn't like it. But if I tell her I'll sing 'Gates of Dawn' for her, she wants to come along. So it's a special song," said the owner of the real name Lee Jieun.

Meanwhile, IU celebrated the release of her new album by making generous donations for two meaningful purposes. As is known, on Thursday (25/3), IU released her comeback album titled "LILAC".

Along with the release of the album, IU's agency EDAM Entertainment revealed that the star had donated a total of 100 million won (approximately Rp.1.2 billion) to two non-profit organizations under the name IUAENA, a combination of IU and UAENA (his official fan club). (wk / dewi)
