SM Entertainment debuted SuperM in October 2019 with 7 members, Taemin SHINee, Kai and Baekhyun EXO, Taeyong and Mark Lee NCT 127 and Ten and Lucas WayV. From different groups, the seven members each had interesting stories about how they could join SM Entertainment.
Baekhyun who is the SuperM leader was preparing for the Seoul Institute of the Arts entrance exam when he was discovered by a talent scout from SM. The 1992-born singer finally entered SM as a trainee in 2011 after undergoing the SM Casting System audition. Less than a year later, he debuted as one of EXO-K's main vocals.
Seeing his great talent, Taemin received support from his parents and auditioned for the SM Open Weekend Audition Casting in 2005, then debuted in 2008 at the age of 14 and made him the youngest K-Pop idol in history. Kai won the SM Youth Best Contest in 2007 and started training at the age of 13. Five years later, he debuted as a member of EXO-K with Baekhyun. Since its debut until now, the owner's full name Kim Jongin was known and admired thanks to his dancing ability.
Taeyong was introduced as a member of SMRookies in December 2019 after undergoing a training period for more than a year. Undergoing audition after being found a talent scout and without the ability to sing or dance, Taeyong showed his hard work until his debut as a member of NCT in 2016.
In 2010 at the age of 14, Ten won first place in the "Teen Superstar" event in Thailand. he declined Starship Entertainment's offer to join and in 2013, he successfully entered SM after attending the SM Global Audition. He debuted as a NCT U member in 2016 followed by WayV in 2019.
Just like Ten, Lucas joined SM after attending the SM Global Audition in Hong Kong and was accepted only by posing like a model. In 2017, Lucas was introduced as part of the SMrookies and joined NCT U the following year and WayV in 2019.
