Scriptwriter Admits the 'Penthouse' storyline doesn't make sense, this is the reaction of Korean netizens

SBS recently released an interview session with scriptwriter Kim Soon Ok who created the hit drama "Penthouse". During the interview, he admitted that the drama's storyline doesn't make sense because it often contradicts reality.

As is well known, "Penthouse" is an expert in "raising people from the grave". An example is Bae Rona (Kim Hyun Soo) and Shim Su Ryeon (Lee Ji Ah) who came back alive after being declared dead.

Writer Kim Soon Ok said, "I think there are too many events happening one after another in the series that the emotions of the characters are not expressed too clearly. Besides, there are characters who die but come back to life one by one like zombies. So I think viewers might be confused."

This recognition immediately received a mixed response from South Korean netizens. There are those who give criticism, there are also those who praise the way of thinking. Check out some of the netizens' comments below:

"Well, the whole drama itself doesn't make sense. So what's wrong with bringing some dead characters to life like zombies? However, the drama is no longer a thriller makjang, but a comedy makjang now. So all of that makes me more addicted to watching it," wrote a netter.

"Please continue to revive the character, I like it," added the other netters. "I think this drama is fun. It's like a time sucker!" connect other netters. "It's okay, please revive Logan Lee," said another. "But, I like all the characters come back to life," said another.

Another netizen commented, "No, he can't keep bringing them all to life! They're not zombies!! This is my biggest gripe about Korean dramas. They start off great, but the scriptwriters end up dragging them out so the drama loses its point. Sometimes, the good stuff should be left for only one season."

"I watched the premiere episode of season 3 and wondered how he would bring this plot and how crazy the story would be," said another. "Well, he's out of ideas, but he wants to keep making money, so..." said the other netters. "I haven't even watched since season 2," concluded the other netters.

Meanwhile, the premiere episode of "Penthouse 3" managed to record impressive ratings with 16.9 percent, 19.5 percent and 19.1 percent. With these gains, "Penthouse" managed to become the most watched drama in its broadcast slot. (wk/eval)
