Some time ago fans were surprised by the news that two WayV members namely Kun and Xiaojun would form the group's first unit. This time, the two of them again spoiled fans by releasing an MV teaser for the song "Back to You".
On this day, Tuesday (15/6), Kun and Xiaojun released a calm MV teaser for "Back To You". both are known to have the same position as the main vocalist in WayV. So, it is possible that the debut song of the Kun and Xiaojun sub-units is a ballad.
Sure enough, the dreamy and calm feel was felt from the MV teaser. In the MV teaser, Kun and Xiaojun are enjoying a beautiful summer day by the beach. "Back to You" itself is said to be a suitable single to listen to in a quiet summer. This song will be released tomorrow, Wednesday (16/6).
Previously, Kun and Xiaojun had also performed a duet to perform Khalil Fong's song "Red Bean" and shared it through WayV's official YouTube channel. This group also made a comeback some time ago by releasing their third mini album, "Kick Back".
Consisting of six tracks mostly of the R&B genre with hip-hop and pop influences, “Kick Back” features the participation of various songwriters and production teams who have worked with SM before. Among them are Alawn, Jasmine Kara, Bobii Lewis, Ebenezer Fabiyi, Dsign Music, Hyuk Shin, Simon PetrĂ©n, Cazzi Opeia, Ryan S. Jhun, and others.
Upon its release, "Kick Back" experienced an increase in physical sales in South Korea and Japan, peaking at number thirteen on the Oricon Albums Chart and selling over 200,000 copies in its first month on the Gaon Album Chart. The album eventually earned the group their first certification with Platinum for selling over 250,000 copies in South Korea.
The music video for the lead single "Kick Back" was released alongside the album on March 10, 2021. It peaked at number one on QQ Music Mainland's MV chart on March 15. The song also debuted at number seven on Tencent Music's UNI Chart and was the highest-paid for the week. This makes WayV the first group to break into the top ten on the chart in 2021. (wk/putr)
